Background

Dr. Arnett is an assistant professor of sociology at NMSU. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 2007.

Research
Dr. Arnett’s area of specialization in sociology are education, race and ethnicity, research methods, and social stratification, with much of her work focusing on international comparisons, especially in the Latin American region. Her current cross-national research examined how family socioeconomic status, school factors, and the structural characteristics of nations interact in order to produce education stratification, and identifying specific context in that weaken the relationship between social class and academic outcomes.
